Weekly Fitness Update

Welcome to my new weekly series, where I am going to keep track of my weekly workouts & other random health & fitness thoughts. This is mostly to keep myself accountable, but also because sharing is caring & I know there’s others out there who are struggling like I am with getting healthy & losing weight. We’re in this together! We can do it! Okay enough of that…

Monday’s “run” was the first workout in a while… summer has been super busy, and while that’s no excuse, it has kept me from focusing on fitness. (**I’d also like to clarify that when I say run, I really mean a combination of speed-walking, jogging, and sprints sometimes. I am not physically capable of running/jogging an entire workout at this stage.**)

Anyways, I recently got new running shoes (after I destroyed mine at the Dirty Girl 5K) and I really like them. They are Nike LunarGlide+ 5 and are super comfy.

Tuesday’s run is what I can only describe as incredible, amazing, fantastic, best run ever. I went longer, farther, and felt absolutely energized the whole time. The weather probably played part in that, because it was cool and gorgeous out. We also came across a friendly deer & a place to go tobogganing that we’d never known about before, so that was pretty cool too.

The rest of the week was busy with evening plans, so our next workout didn’t happen until Saturday. 3 in one week is pretty decent to start things off though. Luckily, things are starting to slow down (aka I’m not planning too much of anything new), so I should be able to start getting 4-5 workouts in each week, if not more. Saturday was shorter because I was not feeling very good, plus it was surprisingly hot out.


I’m ready to give this my all… but I think I need to work on my eating habits even more. I’ve made some progress in the last year with cutting out a lot of junk food, red meat, and soda/pop. I haven’t seen as much progress as I’d like though, so I feel like I’m not doing enough. I’m terrible at tracking calories but I’m going to try to do that again. I’ve considered trying one of those drink-a-shake-instead programs but they can be kind of pricey (are they worth it?)… I’ve also discussed possibly starting to see a dietitian.

This week, the scale was up and down by a few pounds, which I think is normal depending on the time of day and everything, but as of this morning it was down so that’s good. I just want to KEEP seeing progress.
