Weekly Fitness Update: Another Rough Week (#CLEMarathon 10K Training – Week 7)

I was tempted to not even write one of these this week, but the whole point is to keep myself accountable so despite my rough week, I’ll put it all out there. Luckily the fitness community is generally really supportive πŸ™‚

If you look close enough, you’ll see that besides keeping up with my #FFKPlankADay challenge, I only had one, yes ONE, workout last week. Ugh! In my defense, I spent Wednesday night getting ready for my first work trip to San Diego, and then I was out of town Thursday and Friday, and Saturday I kind of spent recovering & catching up on life and chores and all the boring things. Then Sunday we were busy being in Columbus all day and didn’t get home until really late. Which leads to Monday… well, I’ll leave that for next week. Let’s just say I’m not having a good start to this week πŸ™

On a more positive note, I have been keeping up with the plank challenge… and I got a kettlebell! πŸ™‚

Yep, I did manage to get a plank in while I was on my work trip!

I missed a couple of days of the challenge due to all the craziness, so I made sure to play catch up:

I have a lot of catching up to do for my training plan. Life likes to throw in some curveballs… How was your fitness and nutrition last week?

  • My nutrition was great. I’m staying true to my void to avoid junk food and eat a healthy diet. Workouts; fair. A 4 mile walk Monday, a spin class Tuesday (I teach it) life took over Wednesday – Thursday……..and then my curveball was a nasty stomach bug Friday into Saturday (ugh) and Sunday I rode my bicycle 26 miles. Have a good week!

    • Great job!! I’m glad you are feeling better – life threw me a lovely little sickness too but I’m hoping to feel better by tomorrow or the weekend. Hope you had a great week!

  • Last week was awful for me – I had a sinus infection and I was sidelined for much of the week. I didn’t sleep much last weekend and I think that weakened my immune system a bit and contributed to it. The silver lining is that the experience helped me learn the value of sleep and for the first time in my 33 years of life I am FINALLY going to bed at a decent hour. My mom worked 2nd shift and I always used to stay up and wait for her, which meant that I went to bed late for my entire life, and this made me into a night owl. Getting enough sleep at night and drinking lots of green smoothies packed with chia seeds helped accelerate my recovery and I was finally able to hit the gym on Thursday. I also got lots of antioxidants from Jade Monk green tea drink packets that I got at Earth Fare. I hated to spend $1 on each one (they were 5 for $5) but they taste great and also helped me get well relatively quickly.

    • Sorry to hear that! I hope you are feeling better. I’m sick this week and after traveling last week I just feel so worn out. I’m hoping I can get my groove back this weekend and start fresh next week. I’m learning the value of sleep as well! I’m definitely a night owl and that’s always been a struggle for me. I’m drinking Shakeology with is packed with a ton of superfoods, antioxidants, vitamins, etc and that’s helping, as well as tea. I sure hope this goes away soon!
