Hi there – I’m combining these 2 posts into one this week because I am SWAMPED!
We are officially moved into our new apartment in Lakewood! YAY! I am breathing a sigh of relief because the hard part is over – the moving – and now the fun can begin… organizing, decorating, and exploring our new town!
Here’s how our weekend went:
We said goodbye to Middleburg Heights, and hello to Lakewood!
I’ll probably talk more about the apartment (with more pics) in a future post, too 🙂
After all the moving fun, drinks were to be had (of course!):
Mike & I both took Monday off, which was a godsend. We originally talked about going back to the old apartment on Sunday to get all the cleaning done, but we decided to do it on Monday instead, so we could have a day of rest & also work on unpacking & organizing. Saturday ended up being very taxing, so it worked out perfectly to push the cleaning back a day. Luckily, we are now pretty much done with the old apartment (minus a few loose ends), so that’s a relief!
We are spending this week slowly unpacking, but also relaxing and unwinding from a hectic weekend (it’s safe to say I need to recharge). This weekend will also be very low-key (except maybe checking out a local bar for the Browns game on Sunday), especially since next weekend we’re having a party to celebrate my 24th birthday (crap, that’s soon) & housewarming our new place!
In terms of health & fitness, as I said, we’ve been swamped so we only got 1 real workout in…
But I can update you a bit on the shakes that I mentioned I was starting! To start the week off, I did one banana/blueberry/spinach for breakfast and one banana/spinach/peanut butter for lunch… however, they didn’t turn out so well… I’m not sure what it was but I think it was the fact that I froze the spinach maybe? Either way, the first 2 had a weird texture… it was bubbly and frothy like something was reacting to something else. It was weird, but they were still drinkable. The second day, I tried a peaches & cream mixture of frozen peaches, vanilla yogurt, vanilla protein powder, and milk. It was better, but could’ve used a little more peach flavor. Although let’s be honest, I’m not exactly drinking these because they’re the most delicious things on the planet.
Day 3 was GREAT though! I threw away as much of the frozen spinach as I could, and just used the frozen bananas with the protein powder, milk, and peanut butter… and they turned out fantastic!
I’m so glad I got these – they are perfect for smoothies & these shakes. I actually ended up just putting milk, the protein powder, and a serving of this into a cup, stirred it all together… and it was great! It was also much easier to do in the morning, and I was also able to put the protein & PB2 powders into a bag to bring for lunch. My work only has 2% and soy milk, so I may look into bringing my own skim or almond milk.
The shakes got put on hold during our move though (obviously), so I’m hoping to start them back up soon. I also haven’t weighed myself in a few days so I’m not sure what my progress is, but I did get a couple lower numbers earlier last week. I have a health fair at my work tomorrow morning, where I’ll be getting my blood sugar, cholesterol, and my blood pressure checked – so that will be good information to know!
Also, once we get a little more settled and our bodies get a little more rest, I definitely want to get out for a bike ride & also check out the fitness center here. Right now, I’m still quite sore so hopefully in another day or two.
Thanks for listening to me ramble on about my life… 🙂
