Weekend Adventures & Weekly Fitness Update: Moving Weekend Edition

Hi there – I’m combining these 2 posts into one this week because I am SWAMPED!

We are officially moved into our new apartment in Lakewood! YAY! I am breathing a sigh of relief because the hard part is over – the moving – and now the fun can begin… organizing, decorating, and exploring our new town!

Here’s how our weekend went:

Our life in boxes.

All packed up & ready to go!

Sayonara... we certainly made some great memories here, but we are so ready for an upgrade.

We said goodbye to Middleburg Heights, and hello to Lakewood!

Molly was pooped from the move! She's adjusted well though, and now loves looking out the windows at the street.

Molly approves of our new desk. I wish I could say it was actually nice, but we are still on a budget so this is courtesy of Wal-Mart... but it works for now!

I’ll probably talk more about the apartment (with more pics) in a future post, too ๐Ÿ™‚

After all the moving fun, drinks were to be had (of course!):

After moving everything, we took a break to celebrate with some Blue Moons & pizza at Angelo's.

We stopped at Quaker because Mike wanted wings, so I tried out this drink (without realizing that you get to keep the cup)... pretty cool!

Also just wanted to share a tea fortune I got because it's pretty inspiring :)

Mike & I both took Monday off, which was a godsend. We originally talked about going back to the old apartment on Sunday to get all the cleaning done, but we decided to do it on Monday instead, so we could have a day of rest & also work on unpacking & organizing. Saturday ended up being very taxing, so it worked out perfectly to push the cleaning back a day. Luckily, we are now pretty much done with the old apartment (minus a few loose ends), so that’s a relief!

We are spending this week slowly unpacking, but also relaxing and unwinding from a hectic weekend (it’s safe to say I need to recharge). This weekend will also be very low-key (except maybe checking out a local bar for the Browns game on Sunday), especially since next weekend we’re having a party to celebrate my 24th birthday (crap, that’s soon) & housewarming our new place!

In terms of health & fitness, as I said, we’ve been swamped so we only got 1 real workout in…

Pretty good one though! Really excited to check out the new fitness center at the apartment & our new Metroparks reservation :)

But I can update you a bit on the shakes that I mentioned I was starting! To start the week off, I did one banana/blueberry/spinach for breakfast and one banana/spinach/peanut butter for lunch… however, they didn’t turn out so well… I’m not sure what it was but I think it was the fact that I froze the spinach maybe? Either way, the first 2 had a weird texture… it was bubbly and frothy like something was reacting to something else. It was weird, but they were still drinkable. The second day, I tried a peaches & cream mixture of frozen peaches, vanilla yogurt, vanilla protein powder, and milk. It was better, but could’ve used a little more peach flavor. Although let’s be honest, I’m not exactly drinking these because they’re the most delicious things on the planet.

Day 3 was GREAT though! I threw away as much of the frozen spinach as I could, and just used the frozen bananas with the protein powder, milk, and peanut butter… and they turned out fantastic!

After reading a tip from Rachael – I really wanted to try PB2 instead of regular peanut butter, so I stopped by Heinen’s during the middle of the week to pick some up.

Thanks for the tip Rachael!

I’m so glad I got these – they are perfect for smoothies & these shakes. I actually ended up just putting milk, the protein powder, and a serving of this into a cup, stirred it all together… and it was great! It was also much easier to do in the morning, and I was also able to put the protein & PB2 powders into a bag to bring for lunch. My work only has 2% and soy milk, so I may look into bringing my own skim or almond milk.

The shakes got put on hold during our move though (obviously), so I’m hoping to start them back up soon. I also haven’t weighed myself in a few days so I’m not sure what my progress is, but I did get a couple lower numbers earlier last week. I have a health fair at my work tomorrow morning, where I’ll be getting my blood sugar, cholesterol, and my blood pressure checked – so that will be good information to know!

Also, once we get a little more settled and our bodies get a little more rest, I definitely want to get out for a bike ride & also check out the fitness center here. Right now, I’m still quite sore so hopefully in another day or two.

Thanks for listening to me ramble on about my life… ๐Ÿ™‚
