How’s everyone holding up during polar vortex #… what are we on now? ha!
My weekend was busy, out braving the snow (as I may have mentioned in my #ootd post haha), but we did make time for a little fun, too. After day 1 of recruitment observation, Dawn and I grabbed our boyfriends & friend and stopped by Buckeye Beer Engine for dinner and brews 🙂 I did splurge and had the Westside burger but it was just SO. DARN. GOOD. #notsorry
Earlier in the week, I also had the opportunity to meet up with some friends from high school back in our old stomping grounds and it was SO MUCH FUN. Like, exactly what I needed fun. I can’t wait to start seeing them regularly again. We said we’d try to get together at least every few weeks.
Let’s see, what else… I’m participating in The Rachael Way’s #VDayBoxSwap (also hosted by The Darling Prepster and Life, Chaos and Quotes), so I did a little shopping for that (gotta love Target) & I’m really excited to mail it off because I found lots of awesome goodies for my swap partner, Ashley! 🙂
We also had lots of time with the kitties, so we got some funny pictures:

Anyways, that was pretty much my whole weekend… nothing too crazy but as always it did go by too fast! Now on to my fitness update…
Welcome to another Weekly Fitness Update, where I recap the week’s workouts and any other miscellaneous health/fitness-related thoughts. Thanks for helping me keep myself accountable 🙂
I haven’t had quite the best week that I was hoping to have, so honestly January has kind of sucked in the fitness department, but I am taking it day by day and am not going to let this discourage me.
Tuesday: off – this was when I met up with my HS friends.
Wednesday: off – Mike & I got Barrio, lol. Good choices right? Oh well, it happens. Not sweating it. Literally… hahahaha okay I’m done.
Thursday: Also off… yep it was a rough week.
Friday: SURPRISE! I was off again. Man, what the heck. This is actually one of the main reasons why I like doing this recap though… seeing how lax I was makes me want to do better. Of course this current week is going terribly so far but that’s a long story for another time (or never). Anyways…
Saturday: Blogilates Beginner’s Calendar Day 2 (Ab Time and ABC Abs); Also did a bunch of arm and squat strengthening with two 5 lb dumbbells. I was really surprised at how much Blogilates kicked my butt! I definitely have to continue working on my strength training.
So there it is – putting it all out there. Only 2 days of actual workouts and 0 runs. Disappointing, but not the end of the world. In other news, I made another smoothie (banana-berry-protein) and a couple more juices this past week!
I also tried Blogilates/Cassey’s Tone It Up Protein Pancakes which were surprisingly really good! The texture is definitely thicker but I tried it with sugar-free syrup, peanut butter, and cookie butter and they were all really yummy combinations! (Admittedly, the cookie butter was best but obviously not the healthiest choice… I’d probably pick peanut butter again next time – or better yet, PB2).
I also ordered a Blogilates tank top & her POP Pilates workout video DVD. Yeah I think I might be on a Blogilates kick, what do you think? 🙂
I love it though!!! Also, I picked up some mason jars last night so I will be trying overnight oats again and I am really excited about it. 🙂 Even though I haven’t had the progress I’d like, I really am enjoying eating fresh foods. It’s amazing to think of all the things I used to eat and how natural it was to me back then, and now I look at myself and sure I’m still heavier than I want to be, but I have made some really great choices for my health and my diet. There’s always progress to be made, but I do feel confident about how far I’ve come and I know I can continue on this path to lose weight and then maintain a healthy & fit lifestyle.
