Weekend Adventures & Weekly Fitness Update

This past weekend was fairly uneventful – Mike & I stayed in (except for Friday night we went out with one of Mike’s friends to watch the Columbus Blue Jackets home opener), but we spent most of the weekend at the apartment getting caught up on a lot of things. For me – laundry mostly. Emails. Other random cleaning things around the apartment. Letting the cats settle in more – which they are getting along so well now! Tonight, they even slept on the bed together (not cuddling, but they’re making great strides). They’ll be BFFs in no time. They are so funny when they play! I forgot what it’s like having a kitten around.

It was also Kent State’s homecoming this weekend, but we didn’t make an appearance. Which ended up being fine with us because it rained! I had a productive and relaxing weekend instead. I was able to organize all of my clothes into my dressers and closet – so that was a huge relief. I still have work to do on the kitchen… but that’s the last little bit of the apartment that needs organizing (finally!). The next step would be to do more decorating, but that will probably wait for a bit as we continue to get settled in and start saving up some money.

There is one more amazing, exciting new adventure happening in my life:

๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

I summed it up best here:

And so far, 24 has delivered an incredible start!

We did manage to get 2 workouts in over the week, and I’m still trying to work on getting more in… but now I’ll have to do a little more readjusting of my schedule come next week; butย as things continue to change, I’m looking forward to getting settled into a routine that allows me to fit in more time for fitness! My ultimate goal would be to be able to wake up early enough to work out, shower, and get ready all before work. We’ll see how that works out…

Anyways, here’s our 2 workouts from the week:

What else did we do this weekend? Oh yes, we stopped at The Sweet Spot for gelato and were blown away! I had caramel crunch & dark chocolate caramel and it was DIVINE.

I also attempted to make overnight oats (no-cook/refrigerator) with steel cut oats. They turned out okay, I think I used too much milk… but they weren’t half bad for my first try at it. I’m going to keep experimenting.

I also got a few things in the mail this weekend:

So you’ll be seeing a post in the future about Cakes Under the Influence!

And I tried my first Herbalife beverage mix (it’s a fruity drink with protein) with the Wild Berry flavor… The package recommends 2 scoops for every 8 ounces of water, but I like to dilute it down. I used the 8oz of water and about half a can of Berry Lacroix and I ended up really liking it, it kind of tasted like fruit punch. Similarly to what I said about my protein shakes… I’m not drinking them because they’re amazing tasting, they are serving a purpose, but it’s a really great alternative when I want to switch things up that taste pretty good. I also got a container of the Mango Peach flavor that I’m going to try next. My friend that I bought the products through gave me an Herbalife shaker cup so what I’m doing is 2 scoops of the beverage mix and then filling it to almost the top with water, which will hopefully dilute it enough.

Well that’s about it, I feel like this post was a little bit scatterbrained. Sorry about that!

How was your weekend? Anything fun going on this week? What should I look out/watch out for on my new commute downtown?
