Last weekend, we had two day trips planned but one fell through. Luckily our second one didn’t because it turned out to be an incredible night! Mike & I got tickets to see fun. and Tegan and Sara in Columbus (on a Sunday night, mind you). We were really skeptical throughout the whole day, thinking we’d have to leave early and that Monday would be awful because of how tired we were going to be. We even considered selling our tickets for a profit… yeah, that would’ve been a bad idea. (We’re old and lame sometimes…)
However, we stuck it out and had an amazing time – we seriously would’ve regretted selling these tickets (although I guess we wouldn’t know what we missed). It was really funny to be in a crowd who was there for fun. when I actually came for Tegan and Sara. Don’t get me wrong, I was STOKED to see fun. too, but Tegan and Sara was what drew me in. I was completely blown away by fun.’s performance, though. I thought it would just be like listening to the album and it would be cool but I wasn’t overly excited. Their performance is now probably at least on the top 5 of best concerts I’ve ever been to. The energy, the sheer talent, the crowd… everything made this performance beyond what I ever expected.

The song that got me into Tegan and Sara.
Their new song that I’m kind of obsessed with.
Tegan and Sara were great, I felt like they were a “best kept secret” since not a lot of people in the crowd knew who they were, but they seemed to be really digging them. I answered quite a few questions from nearby people wondering about them. And I of course belted out their lyrics like it was my job! I’m so happy I can check “See Tegan and Sara live” off of my bucket list 🙂
Next up was fun. and I still get chills just thinking about their show. I took a couple of videos, which of course don’t do it justice, but I’ll still let them do the talking:
*(It’s a little shaky sometimes, and there are some parts where I accidentally covered up the mic without realizing it, so just ignore that, haha…)*
They of course saved “Some Nights” for the encore, and by that time my phone was almost dead… but it was incredible just like their whole performance. Mike & I were practically speechless as we left… but of course we posed for one last picture!
Music is seriously the BEST therapy.
I can’t even explain how I felt on the ride home… happy, peaceful, loving life, etc. Thank you to fun. and Tegan & Sara for one of the best nights of the year!
