Patterned Palazzo Pants and a Pixie

Calling this last month a whirlwind is nothing but an understatement, but I don’t have better words. I have so many things to tell you all – about our last weeks in Cleveland, about the move to North Carolina, our new apartment, etc… – but I’ll try to keep this to a quick update for now while I get back into the swing of blogging + life… haha.

The abbreviated version: the move went well overall, Mike & I both have new jobs that are quite amazing, the cats love the big window in our apartment, and the weather has been absolutely gorgeous. I’ll share more details in an upcoming “Life Through The Lens” post – I promise πŸ™‚

Yesterday was our second Sunday in North Carolina. Our first Sunday in North Carolina consisted of taking my mom to the airport (she took off work for a few days to help us move down) – let me tell you, that was the absolute WORST part of the move. It was really hard to say “see you soon” to her, especially since it’s always been just the two of us and we’ve never lived this far apart (no more spontaneous dinners or shopping trips…). Mike has been amazing at helping me adjust (he’s a little more used to long-distance parents).
I promised my mom I’d call her at least every other day if not every day. Anyways, last Sunday was still very chaotic as we were still unpacking and organizing and shopping and so on. Yesterday was still some of the same, but we’re getting more and more settled each day which feels great. I’ll be SO happy once everything has a place and all of our boxes are finally unpacked (we only have a couple left!).

Cool mornings that turn into hot afternoons call for flexibility in outfit choices. I couldn’t wait to wear these palazzo pants I picked up from T.J. Maxx (is that what they are called? I honestly don’t know, I just tried to Google it hahaha). Anyways, these are perfect because they’re long so they cover my legs while it’s chilly out, but they’re thin and flowy so I can still rock them once it heats up. I paired them with a simple Express tank top (which I happened to get for free!) and Minnetonka sandals. A perfect casual outfit for a day of breakfasting, grocery shopping, and running errands. I also am head-over-heels in love with this new Betsy Johnson purse I found at Marshall’s (can you tell I’m a huge fan of the TJX Companies? ha).

Oh, also… I cut my hair again! I have been gradually going shorter and shorter, just trying to see how far I can really take it haha. It’s nerve-wracking each time but so far it’s been paying off. I’m still trying to figure out what looks best (especially when it comes to styling it), but it’s been a fun experiment.

{side note: I’m a terrible model and have a total of 4 poses I can think of while taking photos… how do people get good at this?! lol seriously though, if you have tips please tell me.}

How do you like to wearΒ palazzo pants? What are your thoughts on them – love or hate?

Do you love T.J. Maxx and Marshall’s as much as I do? What stores do you love?

Until next time…

  • I love love those pants. I need some! Also, loving that hairstyle on you too! I’m glad you’re enjoying your new state! I feel you about leaving family. I’d be the same if I moved away from my parents. My mom is sad that I live 30 minutes away now! haha. Thank goodness for phone calls and video chatting!

    • Thanks Claudia! As soon as I saw them, and in my size, I was ecstatic haha. I’m definitely still getting used to the new hairstyle and new state, but so far so good haha πŸ™‚ Haha omg I know, if technology wasn’t around, not sure what we’d do! I can’t imagine what people used to do… I mean I guess they either didn’t move far away or just got used to it. It’s tough but it’s also part of life sometimes.
