Hello hello! I can’t believe how quickly Christmas came & went. I was really hoping to have more time to blog, but alas that didn’t happen. Surprised? haha. I had a week off of work (though I still worked here & there), so Mike and I traveled to New Jersey to spend Christmas with his parents & sister. We spent our time relaxing, shopping, taking Sandy (his mom’s pup) to the dog park, oh and we attended 3 Christmas parties! We also watched home movies, helped his parents with their tech & camera questions, and went out to eat.
Mike & I actually celebrated our 3 year dating anniversary while we were here, too. We had originally planned on going to New York City (since it’s just a short train ride away), but the weather didn’t prevail earlier in the week and by the end of the week we didn’t have the energy haha. It was still nice just to spend time together though. I won’t get too sappy, but I just can’t believe how lucky I am! I can’t even put it into words.
Christmas was a lot of fun – I got Mike some sports gear (a New York Jets jacket, a New Jersey Devils hat, a Mighty Ducks/Anaheim Ducks winter hat, and a Carolina Panthers hat) plus a Star Trek mug (Tea, Earl Grey, Hot). He also got a Mighty Ducks/Anaheim Ducks hockey jersey and some new clothes from his parents. Mike got me 2 Coach bags (one matching a set I already have), plus some sports gear and Cards Against Humanity! I also got some anchor jewelry from his mom (a watch, a bracelet, a necklace, and earrings!). His dad got me a bottle of red wine (Malbec, my favorite). Mike also bought himself a Christmas present – a Microsoft Surface Pro 3. Silly kid loves his technology. His mom got his dad a new DSLR camera – the Canon Rebel T5 (which I got to help him set up!). I decided it was finally time to upgrade my DSLR camera (after watching home movies with the family, I started really wanting a camera that also takes video)… so I ended up researching like crazy and went with a mirrorless camera – the Sony A6000. So far, I really love it! It’s got a lot of the same features as a DSLR, but it’s way more portable! I can’t wait to use it more – and to be able to bring it more places. I’ve been wanting to upgrade my camera for a while now and was originally considering just getting a point-and-shoot because I haven’t really delved into the manual photography, but the mirrorless is like the perfect in-between option. Compact like a point-and-shoot but powerful like a DSLR. Oh, and I’m currently obsessing over the fact that I can send the photos directly from the camera to my iPhone and upload to Instagram/Facebook/etc. LOVE!
We’re heading back to Ohio today and I can’t wait to see the kitties! As much as we love a break (and seeing family), it’ll be good to get back into our routine. It’s also almost 2015 which means… a fresh start, new goals, etc. Most importantly – getting back to healthy eating & exercise! I’ve been SERIOUSLY slacking and I have no excuse but it’s taken it’s toll on my body lately. I’ve been SO tired all the time (and I hate it).
I am looking forward to an upcoming ski trip to New York (either Peak N’ Peek or Holiday Valley), my work’s holiday party, plus New Years Eve (which we haven’t even figured out plans for yet!!). I can’t believe I’m saying this but I actually want Ohio to get snow soon, so we can actually put our season passes to Boston Mills/Brandywine to good use! Our season’s getting a late start… Mike & I were actually planning to visit a ski resort in New Jersey while we were on break, but that wasn’t possible since it’s been warm!
Okay so now that this has been a random burst of thoughts and whatnot, check out the better part of this post… photos!
How was your Christmas/holiday break? What are you doing for NYE?
