Grid Iron 5K: Inaugural Family Fun Run to Kick-Off Football Season (+ a race entry giveaway)

I am so excited to tell you all about this upcoming race in Northeast Ohio! I’m serving as an ambassador for this race (which means I get a free race entry) but it’s a great race that I am happy to support regardless.

The Grid Iron 5K run/walk is the perfect family friendly event to kick off the football season. Hosted in Chagrin Falls on Labor Day (September 1st), you’re invited to throw on your favorite Browns or Buckeye gear and support these amazing causes:

  • $1 of every entry will go towards Northeast Ohio’s Team RWB Chapter. Team RWB works to help veterans assimilate back into civilian life through physical and social activity.
  • In partnership with MoreThanSport, GridIron5K will be hosting a canned food drive to benefit Women Safe, a local emergency shelter for domestic abuse survivors.  Please consider bringing a canned good or grocery gift card to packet pickup or at race day.

One other really cool thing about this race is that instead of t-shirts, there will be HOODIES! I know, it may not seem like much, but you racers out there know how common t-shirts are so it’s nice to see something different being offered. Here’s what the hoodies will look like:

Perfect for those chilly fall nights!

Here’s the details about the race:

  • $35 for adult 5k (includes unisex dark grey Grid Iron 5K hoodie for the first 250 participants).
  • $20 for children 5k (includes cotton Grid Iron 5K t-shirt)
  • $10 for kids run (includes cotton Grid Iron t-shirt)
  • Chip Timing will be provided by DMC Timing, a local NE Ohio timing company.
  • Packet pickup will be on August 31st from 12-3PM at Chagrin Cards & Gifts in downtown Chagrin.
  • Same day packet pickup is from 7:45 – 8:45 AM at Chagrin Falls High School (football field)
  • The race will start at 9AM, the awards ceremony is at approximately 9:40, and the kids run will start at approximately 9:45
  • The course is a loop that starts and ends at the Chagrin Falls High School. The local police will be blocking off a portion of the roads and monitoring traffic so you won’t be relegated to sidewalks or anything like that.
  • Check out these amazing sponsors of the race!

If you’re interested in participating, I have a great offer for you. When you register, if you use the code “SAVE5JESS” you can save $5 off the adult 5k. This offer expires on 8/16/2014. Register here!
