// Sooo, this post is way beyond overdue! I wanted to post it anyways though because it was so much fun. //

Can I just say how much I love my friends? One of my best friends, Katie, surprised me with a trip to MAC Cosmetics for a makeover back in December!

It was such a fun, unique, and thoughtful gift and I had such a great time!

Let me preface this by saying that I am not a beauty expert by any means (me wearing makeup happens on special occasions or if I actually wake up early enough and feel like it – aka not very often). Suffice it to say, I don’t wear any kind of high-quality makeup – which is sad. However, getting introduced to MAC makeup was eye-opening. My current makeup routine is crap – not only is all of it old (and needs thrown out), but it’s just not great quality. It was sufficient for my high school and college days, but I’m a grown ass young professional woman… I should wear some grown ass higher quality makeup. LOL.

During my makeover, the lady helping me asked me a bunch of questions to get an idea of what I currently do, what kinds of things I like (colors, textures, applications, etc) and then we got to start playing with colors, application styles, textures and other different things! I mostly stuck to neutral colors because I wanted something I could wear daily to work and also transition to night time when I’m out and about. I did fall in love with the purple accents we picked out though! It really brought out my eyes.

She did the full shazam on my face and I LOOKED DAMN GOOD. Moisturizer, concealer, foundation, powder, bronzer, blush, an eyeshadow base, 3-4 different eye shadows, eyeliner, brow liner, mascara, and lipstick.
I was definitely out of my comfort zone, but in a good way. I felt so glamorous!

I didn’t end up purchasing all of the items she used on me, but I did get a 4-pack of eye shadows (3 neutrals and purple), mascara, and lipstick. I didn’t get the dark lipstick pictured above (as much as I loved it), but I went with a slightly more neutral tone with a hint of purple since it looked great with the whole look I had going on. The mascara she used on me was AMAZING. I want to go back at some point and pick up a few more items to round out my new MAC collection. One other thing I really loved (besides the awesome customer service and variety of high-quality products) was that they give you this little paper with your makeup look drawn on with the makeup used, plus all of the product names written out at the bottom (similar to this next image).

These are the products I ended up purchasing (well actually Katie bought them for me – such a sweetheart!):

Now, I feel more confident in wearing makeup and want to start wearing it more often! After the makeover, we headed over to the 87 West wine bar in Crocker Park for dinner and wine, of course! It was our first time at this restaurant and I’m so glad we went – the wine and food were both fantastic! The atmosphere was so cozy and open, I really liked it. Hmm, maybe I’ll talk Mike into going there for Valentine’s Day… ๐Ÿ˜‰

What’s your favorite brand of makeup?

Until next time…
