I don’t think I’ve been this happy for Friday & the weekend since… well probably last Friday, but that feels like forever ago! It’s been a crazy start to July and I’m already feeling a little burnt out – in a good way, though 😉 So what’s new with me? Well, check out some features from the past few days…
This week, my grandparents were in town from South Carolina, and while I didn’t get a single picture with them, I had so much fun visiting with them in the evening after work. I wish I had more time with them, but I’m grateful for the time I did have. It’s hard not having family in the same state as you, I wish they lived here in Ohio!
We had a homecooked meal each day they were here, except for their last night here. We treated them to a night out on the town (our new town), with dinner at Deagan’s Kitchen & Bar in Lakewood. Being everyone’s first time there, we didn’t know what to expect but I have only heard good things and after our experience – I can confirm that!
Our waitress was very friendly, and she recommended the Maipe Reserve Malbec to me, which was fantastic! I haven’t had many types of Malbec (yet) but I kept RAVING to my family about how tasty this wine was. Not too dry, but not too sweet. Perfect for me 🙂
We started with a soft pretzel with beer cheese, and an order of fried oysters. The pretzel was delicious with a crispy exterior and a warm, soft interior, and my family tells me the oysters were amazing as well!
For our entrees, everyone decided on the fish & chips, except for me… I wanted some red meat to pair with my wine. I did get a taste of the fish and chips though, and it was scrumptious (and they give you SO much fish). We upgraded our meals from regular fries to house fries – they sounded too delicious not to!
My steak was juicy & tender, and the butter gave it this amazing (what’s another word for buttery?) flavor.
The atmosphere was cozy and inviting – I can’t wait to go back once we move! Which reminds me… Mike & I officially applied for our apartment in Lakewood – yay! We’re hoping to move in September.
Also, as if it wasn’t official already, my diploma came!
That’s pretty much been my week – I’m ready for a relaxing start to the weekend and then going on a little day trip to PA with some friends! I’m hoping this nice weather finally decides to stick around, too. (Yeah, right.)
Your turn… how has your week been? Tell me in the comments!
