Flirty in Floral + Life Lately

Since the blog rebrand, I haven’t really had a chance to just write about life. Now seems like as good a time as any to do just that. A lot has happened the past couple of months and it’s kind of felt like a whirlwhind. I mean seriously, did July even happen? I feel like it justย came & went!

Anyways, for those of you who don’t know, back in June I had the unfortunate experience of my company downsizing and me being “laid off” (or whatever you want to call it). It was not something I thought I’d be experiencing so early in my career, and it was tough to deal with at first, but I realized it was a learning experience and I took away the lessons I needed to from it and am ready for what’s next. Also reminding myself that everything happens for a reason helps too ๐Ÿ™‚ I wasn’t sure if I should talk about it here on the blog, but I feel like it’s something that’s not talked about a lot but probably happens more often than we think, so I am comfortable being open about it. #realtalk #openbook

After that happened, I obviously had a ton of free time on my hands (which is why I decided to finally take the plunge and rebrand / switch to I’m also volunteering on the AAF Cleveland Social Media & PR Committee and of course, spending a lot of time on the job search. Oh & I also dyed my hair blonde… well, it’s just highlights but it basically looks like I’m blonde (or bronde).

As you know, I also went on vacation which was a much needed distraction. I got to enjoy the sand, the sun, and lots of amazing food! This dress that I wore out to eat one night is one that I’ve had for awhile, but I adore it because not only is it cute & flirty in floral, but it’s SO comfortable.

I also can’t believe that in less than a week, I’ll be in Anaheim, California! I mentioned before that I’m going to the IDEA World Fitness BlogFest with Sweat Pink and I. CANNOT. WAIT. My first blog conference, you guys! I still need to pick up a new bag for the trip, I wanted to get a new camera but don’t know if that will happen, I have to figure out what to wear every day, oh and pack! Lots to do!

Luckily, I have no shortage of workout clothes to bring with me ๐Ÿ™‚ Mike is coming with me tooย & we’re staying with his aunt and uncle who live in Anaheim (how perfect is it that the conference is being held in the city they live in?!). We’re staying a couple of extra days after the conference so that I can actually spend time with his family, too, instead of just before & after the conference.

Oh and I have to tell you about this amazing local company!

JakPrints – a local printing company here in Cleveland, Ohio – was generous enough to sponsor part of my trip (providing me with business cards in exchange for giving them some love here on the blog & on social media!). This company has blown me away time and time again, I can’t recommend them enough if you need any printing done. They have an amazing website that you can order from, check it out at Here’s what my biz cards are going to look like (designed by yours truly!):

Whew, this blog post is turning into a DOOZY! I like to ramble sometimes ๐Ÿ™‚
I supposed that’s enough of a life update for now though…

Now tell me about your life – what’s new? Let’s catch up!
Have you ever been to a blog conference? Got any tips?

  • Sorry to hear about your job, but it’s good that you’re looking at it positively and keeping busy/being productive with projects! :]

Congrats on the rebrand! That’s awesome! I originally wanted to switch to too, but that didn’t end up panning out during the “vacation” I’m currently on. (But hooray for also finally going self-hosted? ๐Ÿ˜› )

I hope you have a ton of fun at the conference! I’m pretty much going to be living vicariously through you; haha. Can’t wait to read about it when you’re back! Safe travels!
