{Country Mega Ticket} – Tim McGraw

Friday night was the kick-off to a summer long country music series – the Country Mega Ticket! I got one for the first time this year, mostly because I just thought it would be fun & give me something to do/look forward to throughout the entire summer. I’ll admit, I’m not the biggest country fan, but I do enjoy most of what I’ve heard of it (even if I don’t know the name of the artist/band singing it – ha). The 3 artists for this show were Love and Theft, Brantley Gilbert, and Tim McGraw. The weather was terrible but we somehow managed to get lucky with the rain & missed the total downpours. We left later than we wanted to so we got the first big rain during our drive over, then in the middle of the concert we decided to head to the bathrooms and just as we were getting into the building, another downpour started.

As I mentioned, I had no idea who Love & Theft wasย {which my friend B, who got the Country Mega Ticket with me & who is a much bigger country fan than I, made fun of me for & even mandated that I only listen to 99.5 and 94.9 until the next show, haha} –ย so yeah, it wasn’t a huge disappointment that we didn’t see them.

Us arriving at the show & hoping the rain holds off!

Also as you can kind of see – we didn’t really dress the part. B at least wore a cowboy hat (which I’m also mandated to go buy), but I only own plaid shirts & they’re all in storage for the summer, so I just went for something comfy/casual/neon. I was glad to have my Indians pullover once the rain hit – it got chilly!

The crazy crowd! We had fun people watching just as much as enjoying the music.

Once we got out from the second storm, we headed back to the lawn to find my blanket (which was soaked and weighed like 30 pounds). A couple songs later, another downpour hit so we decided to call it a night {except for our 3 mile walk back to my car + having to carry a blanket that felt like a child}.

All in all, it was a crazy fun night with one of my very best friends! And we honestly didn’t mind the rain that much, it just added to the experience. I mean come on, country music and rain go together perfectly… right?
Now if only we had a truck, too! ๐Ÿ˜‰ — totally kidding, FYI.
Wait no, B did actually say she wanted a truck. But she is a country girl at heart!ย

I know more of the songs from some of the artists who are coming up, so I’m really excited for those shows because they’ll only be even more fun! Plus who doesn’t love a girls night out with sunshine & music?!

So let’s see, who do we have to look forward to?

Kenny Chesney & Eli Young Band,ย Rascal Flatts & The Band Perry,ย Toby Keith,ย Blake Shelton & Easton Corbin,ย Miranda Lambert & Dierks Bentley,ย Jason Aldean & Jake Owen,ย Keith Urban,ย and last but not least, Luke Bryan!

If I had to pick which ones I’m MOST looking forward to, I’d have to say Rascal Flatts, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, and Luke Bryan ๐Ÿ™‚

Any other country music fans out there? Like I said, it’s not my absolute favorite genre of music, but I have gotten more into it the last few years (with the help of some country-music-loving friends of course!)

  • We love country music! In the 11 years I’ve lived in Ohio, I’ve never been brave enough to venture to Blossom though. I think it’s the thought of traffic jams with a bunch of drunk rednecks and the long walk from the parking that scares me lol. We tend to stick with the county fairs for concerts, but I’m sad there’s no one good at our fair this year. Hope you have fun at the rest of the upcoming concerts! I bet Blake’s concert will be great!

    • Yeah Blossom’s traffic is pretty crazy, luckily my friend knew a back way since she lives in the area so we actually didn’t get too much. On the way home was crazy, but we got there late so we were all the way in the back by the road, so we did end up getting out pretty easily. We’ve also talked about going to a country fest called Country Jam or something? haha… Thank you so much!

  • I have a strong dislike for both country and blossom — EEK. Two of the worst things out there, but I do know a lot of people that went to this and had a good time! Looks like you were one of them!
