CLEvents: Taste of Lakewood

Since moving to Lakewood, we’ve had the chance to check out quite a few of the local restaurants and bars in the area. Since Mike is a New Jersey boy, he always says Lakewood is Cleveland’s Hoboken. There are so many amazing spots in this (not so) little suburb and we adore living here – but we are still in close proximity to downtown. We still have so much to see/visit/do in the area!

If you want to taste a sampling of Lakewood’s finest restaurants, you have to check out Taste of Lakewood next weekend! I’ve never been but I am definitely making it out to this event. I guess in previous years, the event was indoors and you had to purchase tickets and it consistently sold out. This year, it’s outdoors & completely FREE to enter (you pay for the food separately). The food is obviously the main event, but there will also be live music, raffles & contests, a beer and wine garden, and more!

Taste of Lakewood
Madison Park – Lakewood, OH
Sunday, June 1st – 1PM – 7PM
Admission is FREE, food is pay-as-you-go

They have similar events like this in other towns (Taste of Tremont, Taste of Hudson, etc) and they are  a blast because it’s a great way to try food from restaurants you haven’t been to yet or aren’t sure if you’ll like, plus it’s an outdoor festival and those are just a ridiculously fun time during the summer!

CoolCleveland Correspondent Marty Bielat met up with Kelly Flamos and Chef Andy from Mahall’s 20 Lanes to get the inside scoop on what to expect from this year’s event. Flamos talked up the day’s activities and spoke personally on why Mahall’s is getting involved, all while Chef Andy showed off some of his delicious gourmet hotdogs. The food had all of our mouths watering. — c/o CoolCleveland

In addition to all that fun I’ve already posted about, there’s going to be a Best Cookie Contest, a Best Guacamole Contest, and of course, let’s not forget about the music! Come check out The Lakewood High School Jazz Band, Thor Platter Band, and FireSide Lakewood who will all be playing during the event.
