I thought it was time for me to finally address my ambassadorship with the Cleveland Marathon (or lack thereof). As I mentioned a couple of times earlier this year, my fitness has gotten off track these last few months and I was really trying to get back into running again but kept struggling to commit and make time for it. Part of that was being distracted and busy and sometimes overwhelmed with our big move – between the planning, traveling, organizing, downsizing, and packing… I had my hands pretty full. Typing this out, I realize how ridiculous I sound because obviously there are much busier people making the time and doing the work, but like I said… I was struggling (still am, but I’m working on that!). Anyways… I thought I’d be able to focus on both training and everything else and I ended up pushing it aside while things were hectic. As you can tell by my lack of posting, my blogging also got put on the backburner (but I’m working on that as well).
I feel absolutely terrible about not keeping up with my training and posting, but things happen and life doesn’t always work out the way we plan. I originally wanted to travel back up to Cleveland for the race, but I don’t think that’s going to happen now. I’m so disappointed to say that I won’t be doing the 10K this year like I originally planned. And, of course, I’m sad that I’m going to be missing out on an amazing race and haven’t been able to share in the journey with my fellow ambassadors. It’s been a crazy few months and while I won’t be there on race day, I hope you all know that I’m cheering for each of you from afar!
I’m grateful for the opportunity and hope to make it back again for next year’s race (or sometime in the future). If you haven’t been to the Cleveland Marathon, I highly suggest adding it to your race bucket list. Not that I’m biased or anything, but it’s just a fun race with a fun, encouraging crowd of Clevelanders. 🙂
That’s all for now… but expect more updates soon! I am getting my health/fitness/nutrition back into a routine and a priority (or am in the process of doing so) and will also be trying to blog more regularly.
I’m also hoping to find some races in the Raleigh area to participate in… it’s been a while and I have some work to do to regain my endurance, but I know once I get back into it I’ll get the running bug again! Mike and I are thinking of doing the Carolina Hurricanes Canes 5K in September, for starters. Psst… if you’re in the Raleigh area and know of some good races I should check out, do tell! 🙂
Until next time…
