Blog Funk / Weekend Adventures (x2)

Confession: Thanksgiving break came and went, and I think I got into a bit of a funk. I don’t really know what caused it, maybe all the relaxation got me out of my routine, or maybe I’ve just been lazy… but I just haven’t had a whole lot to say. I kind of still don’t, but I’m working on it. Consider this me playing catch up, I hope you don’t mind ๐Ÿ™‚

So, let’s see… my Thanksgiving break was pretty great. I got to eat a lot of food, spend time with my favorite people, and RELAX. It was so nice having nothing to do for a few days.

Mike & I hosted our first Thanksgiving together – it was small with just us and my mom because my mom was hosting on Saturday, but it was cozy and delicious! We made cornish hens (we didn’t want to get sick of turkey before the big celebration), mashed potatoes & gravy, stuffing, and corn. Simple, but just right.

All that food led to this:

Don’t worry though, we kept room for pie!

Then, we got to do it all over again on Saturday (only bigger). My aunt, uncle, and cousin came to my mom’s house from Toledo so it was great to spend some time with them. We’re all meeting up at my grandma’s in South Carolina for Christmas so it’s going to be kind of like a small family reunion. I can’t wait!

Thanksgiving at my mom’s was awesome, as usual. There’s something about the holiday that warms my heart. It’s definitely one of my favorites. I love that there’s certain things that we consider “staples” for Thanksgiving (as most of us do). I like having some traditions, even if they are minor details. I wish I had all of my family in one place and that we all got together every year, but unfortunately that just isn’t possible. It is such a treat when we are able to though!

And as expected, another food coma ensued. We did make time to get in the Christmas spirit though & put up the Christmas tree and decked the halls. Now we just need a family photo for Christmas cards!

We also added some lights to our balcony & a wreath to the front door, as well.

Nothing very exciting happened last week (unless you count me finishing the Gossip Girl series as exciting…), so let’s just skip to this past weekend!

As I previously posted, Rachael & I hosted our first Cleveland blogger meetup – and it was a blast! We went to the Ohio City Holiday Festival, then ventured to Market Garden Brewery for lunch, wandered around West Side Market, then stopped for a drink at McNulty’s Bier Markt. Check out Rachael’s recap hereย andย Lisa’s recap here. Thanks so much to all the bloggers who came out, and to Rachael for reaching out to me to cohost the meetup. So much fun! I hope we can do another one soon, especially for those of you who couldn’t make it.

It’s definitely holiday season, and my week is filled with fun events at work and fun weekend happenings, so I’m a busy bee for the next week or two. I am excited about it all though!
